Walking along the beach
The water, gently lapping against my heels
The soft smooth sand warm under my feet
The cool sea breeze lightly teasing my hair
I lift my face to the pale glow of the sun
And everything seems so peaceful and quiet
Then suddenly a scream rents the air
I open my eyes and recognize my voice
I look around and see
Theres no water, no sand, nor the warm pale sun
Its dark, oh so dark all the silhouettes merging into one
I take a step and feel
Sharp edges cutting into my feet
Warm blood oozing out
And I stumble and I fall
And feel them cutting into my hands
Something slides up my feet
I try to pull away
But it just gets tighter ;
Higher and higher it coils
Till I’m imprisoned
And have to submit
To the chains of my mind
Bruised and hurt
With no other choice and no freedom…
